Here’s a fun and colorful banner to welcome Eid-ul-Adha and a great opportunity to share the story of why we celebrate this day: The legacy of Ibrahim AlayhisSalam. In class I told the story of how Ibrahim AlayhisSalam was ordered to sacrifice his son Ismail AlayhisSalam, and how Ismail was saved and Allah provided a sheep to sacrifice instead.
Eid-dul-Adha is definitely about sacrifice, a concept that can be hard to explain to children. I find kids differ so much in their reactions to the idea of killing an animal to eat it. Each parent knows their child best and must choose the best time and way to explain, I have no insight to offer here.
